Introduction to coaching

  • What is coaching and what is it not?
  • The pre-coaching questionnaire
  • Presenting problem (Surface structure) and deeper rooted issue (Deeper structure)
  • Gathering information from the coachee and using the 0-10 measurement tool
  • Importance of building rapport
  • An introduction to the coaching worksheet and how to use coaching questions

The 5 stages of the coaching worksheet

  • Turning a goal from a vague dream into a detailed vision - get specific
  • Exploring the benefits of the goal - the WHY behind the what
  • Discover the clients current reality - where is the client now? What is holding them back? Do they have any limiting beliefs?
  • What are the actions that can be taken towards achieving their goal
  • Prioritising those actions, what's the smallest thing that will bring the biggest result

Creating our reality & the Meta Model

  • Self discovery 1 - What did you observe / learn from your first coaching session? Opportunity to share and learn from each other
  • NLP model of communication, (Generalisations, deletions and distortions) we see the world as we are not as it is
  • Introduction to the meta model questions based on the work of Virginia Satir (USA Family Therapist)

  • Self discovery 2 - What did you observe / learn from your second coaching session? Opportunity to share and learn from each other
  • Reframing - Gaining new perspectives on clients perceived negative situations / experiences
  • Limiting beliefs - How to listen out for and begin to identify clients limiting beliefs in a therapy session
  • Challenging limiting beliefs, and loosening their grip

The importance of identifying values

  • Self discovery 3 - What did you observe / learn from your third coaching session? Opportunity to share and learn from each other
  • Values - what are they and how can they help direct our behaviours and therefore the results we get in our lives?
  • Introduction to eye patterns, eye patterns can tell us HOW someone is thinking - do an activity in pairs
  • Eye patterns / spelling strategy - Richard Bandler and how he radically changed bad spellers into good spellers

Revision of course and next steps

  • Course revision and what did you learn on the course. What will you practice more of as you move forward?
  • What are your challenges as you finish this course what are your main areas for improvement and how will you make sure you improve?
  • Award of your certificate of attendance
